It is also ideal for those interested in diving in groups guided by a PADI Professional. It invites these divers to experience diving and encourages them to continue training to the Open Water Diver level and beyond. The Scuba Diver Course is also a good way to introduce children to the underwater world and begin their adventure. The minimum age to begin the Scuba Diver Course is 10 years old. The course takes 2 days to complete, plus some independent study. Upon completion of the course you will receive a certification to dive anywhere in the world with a PADI Professional to a depth of 12m. There are 2 Open Water Dives required for certification. You can easily upgrade from Scuba Diver to Open Water at a later date. Scuba Diver Cert Card Day 1 starts at 9am when you meet at the classroom to review the knowledge development modules with one of our Instructors. Our Instructor will take you through the basic theory of diving and some basic safety concepts, which are both good to learn before you go into the open water. With your Instructor you will use the PADI Manual, which is yours to keep after the course. Pool Training To assist your learning you will also watch the first three modules of the PADI Open Water DVD. This gives you a better understanding when you dive of what is happening and why! We normally break for lunch around 1pm returning about an hour later to show you how to set up your equipment. And now the fun begins. We go to the swimming pool where you will put Clearing the Maskinto practice the things you learnt in theory during 3 confined water dives. The day usually finishes around 4.30-5pm. The following day we will pick you up around 7- 7.30am for your first diving adventure. Your Instructor will go through the equipment assembly with you before we then take you by speedboat to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, which is about 1 1/4 hours away. NudibranchIn Koh Tao there are some fantastic bays which are ideal for beginners to experience diving for the first time, with clear blue water and lots of marine life for you to see. For your first dive, we usually go to a bay which allows you to walk into the sea from the beach, helping you to slowly build up your confidence. The first dive is a nice relaxing dive to get you used to being underwater and using the equipment. After you have completed the first dive we take a break for an hour or so when we serve lunch, which you can eat on the boat or on the beach. Neutral Buoyancy HoveringAfter lunch we move the boat to another dive site to make your second dive. During your second dive you will repeat some of the skills you practised in the swimming pool, which you are required to perform for certification. The maximum depth of the dives will be 12m. We arrive back to Koh Samui around 3.30pm where you will complete your paperwork and fill in your logbook. If you enjoy the course so much that you might want to continue the fun, ask your Instructor about the steps required to go to the next level by taking the Open Water Diver Course.
