Roberta's Scuba Shack is a PADI International Resort dive shop on Cozumel, run by Roberta and her team for 25 years and affiliated with NAUI, SSI and TDI as well as PADI. The shop is right on the water, minutes from the dive sites, and runs its own affiliated dive hotel, Village Tan Kah, next door, where guests get unlimited free shore diving and a poolside breakfast. Boat trips leave twice a day, at 8:30am and 1:30pm, in small groups of six to eight on fast boats, with divers' choice of sites; a typical two-tank trip includes a wall dive to about 80 feet followed by a one-hour surface interval with pastries, sodas and water, then a shallower second dive, for a total trip length of around four to five hours. Special trips to Punta Sur, Maracaibo and Barracuda are available for advanced divers. On the training side, the shop teaches the full PADI ladder from Discover Scuba Diving through Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and DiveMaster, plus a range of specialty courses, and stocks rental gear including regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, computers and Nitrox. Free lockers, a rinse tank on the pier and a room for drying wetsuits are provided for divers using the shop.
