ProTec Tulum, opened in 2011, is a purpose-built cave diving facility on Avenida Satelite in downtown Tulum, right on the doorstep of the world's most extensive flooded cave system. The shop has two classrooms, a full retail store, its own on-site BaseCamp accommodation, and the largest fill station in the area with two high-volume compressors, a large Nitrox 32 bank and an air/helium/oxygen booster system for technical and rebreather divers. ProTec specializes in technical, cavern and cave diver training, from an Enriched Air Nitrox course through Cavern, Intro to Cave, Full Cave, Stage Cave, Advanced Sidemount, DPV and CCR-specific programs, as well as guided cavern and cave dives in local cenotes such as Dos Ojos, Chac Mool, Angelita, The Pit and Dreamgate, guided by full cave/divemaster-level instructors. All training and guiding rates are performance based, quoted per day, and include cenote fees, transportation, tanks and breathing gases, with lower per-person rates for groups of two or more. Rental gear, including CCR rebreathers and DPVs, plus underwater video and photo services, are also available.
