Ocean Plus is a PADI-certified dive and watersports centre in Nilaveli, on Sri Lanka's north-east coast near Trincomalee, open seasonally from March to October. Established in 2018 and relocated to a new site in 2025 with the same experienced PADI staff, the centre holds a licence for swimming with whales, one of very few operators in the world offering this activity. Most of the team is hired from the local community, and the company runs a training programme that gives young adults from the area a new profession. Certified divers can book fun dives (one to four dives per trip, maximum four divers per boat) or refresher dives for those who haven't dived in the last six months. Complete beginners can try Discover Scuba Diving at either a shallow 6-8 metre or a deeper 8-12 metre depth, each with one or two guided dives and a theory introduction. Ocean Plus also runs PADI Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver and Emergency First Response courses, with equipment and certification fees included. Beyond diving, the centre offers whale and dolphin watching by private boat, with an option combining it with a snorkelling stop on a five-hour tour that includes fresh fruit, cookies and water, snorkelling tours to Coral Island and Pigeon Island, and deep-sea or bottom fishing tours. A private villa (Villa Vianna, for up to two adults) is available just 40 metres from the dive centre, with free use of beach sunbeds.
