About
The Marine Centre at Dhawa Ihuru is a PADI 5-Star Gold Palm Dive Centre on Ihuru Island in North Male Atoll, about 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. The resort's own facilities page lists diving courses, equipment rental, guided dives and dive trips run out of the Marine Centre, open 8:00am-5:00pm, alongside the wider water-sports side of the same facility (windsurfing, catamaran sailing and kayaking, including a named Kahan'bu Catamaran outing through the surrounding reef). Independent coverage sourced from the resort's own material describes a five-instructor team offering the standard PADI recreational course ladder plus specialties such as underwater propulsion vehicle, underwater photography and deep diver, daily 8:30am boat trips doing two dives through late morning, popular afternoon house-reef diving, and night diving. A standout local site is the Rannamaari shipwreck, deliberately sunk in 1999 close to the island and now a well-established artificial reef used for wreck dives. The Marine Centre also supports guest-facing marine-conservation activities such as turtle care and coral-community monitoring.
