About
Maputo Dive Center is Mozambique's first Mozambican-owned and community-operated PADI 5-Star Dive Center, founded in 2022 by Luciano Adamo and Julian Spezzati and rooted in the Bitonga Divers training initiative in Tofo. Based in Maputo with dive operations at Ponta do Ouro and Tofo, the center offers a full range of PADI courses -- Discover Scuba Diving, Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Enriched Air Nitrox, Deep Diver and Wreck Diver -- taught in English and Portuguese by local instructors. It also runs multi-day diving-and-safari trips combining Ponta do Ouro and Tofo reefs (whale sharks, manta rays, reef and hammerhead sharks, seasonal humpback whales) with Kruger National Park. The team drives the Zero to Hero program that trains Mozambican dive professionals, plus community beach clean-ups and marine conservation projects, including a new community-run dive center on Inhaca Island.
