About
This listing is the Underwater Welding Technology program (Sualtı Kaynak Teknolojisi) of Iskenderun Technical University's Maritime Technologies Vocational School in Hatay, Turkey - not a commercial dive center. The program trains first-class industrial (commercial) divers combining welding expertise with diving skills for underwater construction, repair and salvage work. Training uses the school's own 6-metre diving tower (the only one at a Turkish vocational school), a pressure chamber for chamber-operator training, and open-sea diving aboard the university's 27.5 m research vessel RV ISTE I and the ISTE II research/utility boat, with a roughly two-week live-aboard sea phase in the final semester. Graduates are trained for underwater welding (dry and wet), port and pipeline construction/repair, bridge foundations, wreck salvage and survey work.
