Freediving Australia runs Sydney's largest and most active freediving community, teaching courses under Molchanovs Freediving Education. Every certified course combines in-person theory (held at the Adreno Sydney dive store), a pool session at UNSW Aquatic Centre to build breath-hold and technique, and ocean sessions at calm, sheltered spots such as Spit Bridge and Lilli Pilli Baths, with Malabar used for spearfishing. High-quality hire gear is included in every course, and students who don't meet the requirements can retrain for free within 12 months. The progression runs from the Wave 1 Freediving Course (2 days) through Wave 2 (2.5 days) to the advanced Wave 3 (7 days), alongside one- and two-day spearfishing courses and a Freediving Instructor Course. Beyond Sydney, the team also runs courses in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Central Coast, plus dedicated pool training sessions and trips such as the Kilsby Sinkhole Deep Weekend and Whitsundays. The instructor team is led by Adam Stern, an 8-time Australian freediving record holder and founder of Molchanovs Education Sydney, together with instructors Artyom Zakharov, Igor Zatsarevnyi, Karen Sivieng, Emma Fitch and Matthew Hardaker. Students joining a course become part of an ongoing community with access to social dives, trips and free ocean training sessions, not just a one-off certification.
