Divespot Portugal has been the only dive center operating in Armação de Pêra, in the Algarve, since it opened in 1997 — nearly 30 years of taking divers of all levels, including complete beginners, out onto what it describes as Portugal's largest natural reef. Dive trips are kept in small groups for a more personal experience, and the center runs a range of diving courses alongside discovery dives for newcomers. Distinctively, the team is made up of marine biologists, oceanographers and former fishermen who combine diving with scientific fieldwork, and their reef survey work contributed to the creation of the Algarve Reef Marine Nature Park at Pedra do Valado, a protected area covering more than 1,300 recorded marine species in Armação de Pêra Bay.
