About

Commercial Dive Academy (CDA) is an occupational and commercial diver training school based at 200 Flinders Street, Tasmania, Australia, also running courses in Queensland and Western Australia. Accredited under ADAS, ADCI and IMCA standards, CDA trains divers for professional underwater work rather than recreational diving, covering the full career path from entry-level onshore diving through to offshore and saturation work. Onshore courses (ADAS Part 1 to 3) teach SCUBA and surface-supplied breathing apparatus (SSBA) diving for construction, salvage, inspection and aquaculture work up to 50 metres. CDA is Australia's only school offering offshore diving qualifications, building on Part 3 with the Part 4 Closed Bell course for mixed-gas saturation diving to 300 metres, aimed at offshore oil and gas, underwater construction and deep-sea work. It also runs Onshore and Offshore Dive Supervisor courses, Diver Medic Technician and Life Support Technician certifications, an ADAS Chamber Operator course, and an IMCA ROV pilot/technician program. Training takes place at facilities including a dive pontoon at Beauty Point and a saturation barge with a hyperbaric chamber and closed bell on Lake Cethana, Tasmania. Course fees generally exclude accommodation and food, and entry to most courses requires a current occupational dive medical and first aid/CPR/oxygen provider certification. CDA reports a 100% graduate employment rate since 2018 and assists students with local accommodation and, for Tasmanian courses, airport pickup.
