About
Carlo Scuba is a PADI dive shop on Las Gatas Beach in Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa, Guerrero, on Mexico's Pacific coast. It is a family-run operation with a long history: founder Carlo Durand, a diver since the 1950s, opened the shop in 1962 as one of the very first dive centers in Mexico; his son-in-law Jean Claude took over in the early 1980s and turned it into a PADI center, and Jean Claude's son Thierry has run it since, continuing three generations of the same family business. The shop runs boat dive trips to more than a dozen local sites - islands, seamounts and coves - and teaches the full PADI ladder from a two-hour Discover Scuba program up to Advanced Open Water, with Nitrox available as an add-on.
