About
UnderwaterCuba runs day-trip scuba diving excursions from Havana to nearby dive sites, pairing each group with a personal instructor and full equipment rather than operating from a fixed dive shop. Trips depart with pickup at hotels or the cruise terminal around 8 AM and typically run about four to five hours. Playa El Salado, roughly 25 km west of the city, is a coral-reef site down to about 18 meters with around 25 meters of visibility, reached in around four hours round trip. Diving in Santa Fe, on Havana's coast, and Puerto Escondido, about 70 km away on a stretch of coastline with cliffs, caves and coral beds, are the other two options offered, the latter including transportation from the pickup point. Every trip includes a briefing on the dive site, the route and safety rules before entering the water. The team also arranges snorkeling and diving day trips to Varadero for visitors staying in Havana.
