Blue Marlin has operated as a dive shop on Malakal Bay in Koror, Palau, since 1987, founded by Dr. Minoru Ueki, a former Palau minister. In 2005 the operation moved into the 5-star Palau Royal Resort in the Malakal area, where the dive shop and pier sit right in front of the hotel, with a logging area, equipment rinse stations and hot showers on site. The center has received several tourism and dive-magazine awards, including a Best Diving Service Award, and marked 30 consecutive years in business without a serious accident in 2017. Blue Marlin runs a fleet of five boats from 25 to 37 feet, each fitted with a twin engine, VHF marine radio, first aid kit and medical oxygen, guided by an international team of PADI instructors and dive guides with decades of experience in Palau's waters.
