About
Blue Bay Divers operates half-day double-dive and snorkelling trips to Julian Rocks, a marine sanctuary a short boat ride from the Brunswick Heads Boat Harbour near Byron Bay. Trips run aboard the Bay Warrior, an 8.5m Cougar Cat with a dry gear cabin, onboard toilet and sheltered deck, and are the only double-dive trips offered in the area, with up to 60 minutes of bottom time per dive and a relaxing surface interval with homemade snacks in between. Groups are kept small, capped at around 10 divers a day, and every trip includes a complimentary experienced dive guide. The skippers and guides have logged decades of diving at Julian Rocks, a site famous for grey nurse sharks, manta rays, turtles and well over 800 recorded fish species. Snorkellers and freedivers get their own half-day tours with at least 3.5 hours in the water, wetsuit and mask included. New Mares hire gear is available for travellers who prefer to dive light. Based in the seaside village of Brunswick Heads, 15 minutes from Byron Bay, the team also points customers to the local fishermen's co-op for fish and chips after a day on the water.
