Benthos Bali Dive Resort is a small boutique dive resort and PADI 5-Star Dive Center in Candidasa, East Bali, right on Amuk Bay. It has just 8 hand-built teak bungalows and keeps dive groups small, with a maximum of 4 divers per guide (courses run at a 2:1 or even 1:1 student-to-instructor ratio). From the resort's own boat, guests reach nearby reefs such as Mimpang and Tepekong, known for shark sightings and healthy corals, as well as the wider East Bali dive sites of Padang Bai, Candidasa, Nusa Penida (manta rays), Amed and Tulamben, home to the USAT Liberty wreck. The center teaches the full range of PADI courses, from Open Water Diver through Advanced Open Water and specialties including Deep, Nitrox, Drift and Rescue Diver, using PADI eLearning for theory and confined-water sessions in the resort pool before open-water training dives. Manta rays can be seen year-round (best May-September), with Mola-Mola season from July to October and the best visibility generally April to November. The resort also arranges private airport transfers from Denpasar (about 1.5-2 hours).
