Atalaia Diving Center is a PADI and SSI dive resort in Caniço de Baixo, Madeira, founded in 1988 and now run by Pedro Fernandes and Ainhoa Zubeldia. It sits directly below three hotels (Royal Orchid, Roca Mar and Cais da Oliveira), giving guests direct lido access, and looks after what it describes as the biggest house reef on the island — six shore-entry dive sites with depths from 3 to 30 metres, plus boat trips into the nearby Garajau Marine Park. The volcanic seabed around Madeira offers steep walls, tunnels, caves, canyons and wreck diving. On site there is a training pool for Discover Scuba Diving and course work, a small dive shop, an equipment workshop, and rental gear from brands such as Scubapro and Mares. The multilingual team (English, German, Portuguese, Spanish) teaches everything from beginner to Divemaster level and also offers guided fun dives, night dives and buddy dives for certified divers.
