This course will expand and develop your knowledge and experience level making you the best buddy you can be! Why become a Rescue Diver? Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and wellbeing of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence. What do I need to start? You must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. You will need to have attended a sanctioned CPR and First Aid program within the past 24 months. The Minimum age is 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver). What will I do? Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the pool exercises and two open water scenarios, you will cover: Self- rescue and diver stress AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems Swimming and non- swimming rescue techniques Emergency management and equipment Panicked diver response Underwater problems Missing diver procedures Surfacing the unconscious diver In- water rescue breathing protocols Egress (exits) First aid procedures for pressure related accidents How long will it take? The Rescue Diver Course takes place over 3 days, beginning with a classroom discussion followed by a day of pool exercises and a day of Open Water scenarios. What do I need to provide? You need to supply your own scuba gear. Alternatively you can rent full scuba gear for the duration of the course at a total cost of R500- 00. Where can I go from here? The PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all Professional level PADI courses, beginning with the PADI Divemaster certification.
